Upskilling and Reskilling Consulting

Corvantus Consulting is the consulting vehicle of Jon Kaplan, thought-leader and senior executive in learning and development.

Jon was most recently the Chief Learning Officer at Discover Financial Services where he led a company-wide upskilling effort with a particular focus on Discover’s call center operations. Jon had enterprise-wide responsibility for leadership, executive, and professional development; compliance training; industry learning; functional job-role training; and university partnerships and education assistance. He formed Corvantus Consulting to apply his expertise to a broader range of companies with large call-center operations.

Jon was profiled in the April 2019 edition of Chief Learning Officer Magazine as the cover story on embedding “humanity and humility” in corporate learning programs. Jon has recently been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, and CNN Money. Jon is also an accomplished public speaker, having delivered keynote addresses on a variety of topics related to learning, corporate engagement, and diversity & inclusion.

Jon’s professional mission is “to expand economic opportunity through inspired learning.” He has over 25 years of leadership experience in the education industry, having led learning and development organizations in the public sector, the private sector, and in unique public-private partnerships. He is a renowned expert on “upskilling” front-line employees in preparation for the AI/digital revolution.

In 2016, Jon expanded his efforts to increase opportunity by taking over responsibility for Discover’s enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion program. His efforts dramatically improved c-suite engagement with Discover’s D&I program.

Jon is a published author, having written articles on subjects as wide-ranging as organizational change management within public schools to pricing strategies for training services. He has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Stanford University, a masters degree in International Policy from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. He lives on the Chicago north shore with his wife Shari and two school-age children.
